Into the world, and other actions of Grace!

“Jesus appeared to the Eleven and said to them: ‘Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.’”

These words are offered to us with Hope but also with urgency. As Paul reminds us the time for our salvation is not yet to come but now. We have been called through our baptisms into a mercy that forever transforms our lives and makes us over in the fullness of God’s likeness. No longer hampered by sin or even death we can enter the world with hope. But we cannot allow God’s will to be left undone because we fail to do our part. What you say, “God can handle it! Just like the U.S. Air Crash Last week,” Well I do indeed believe that God had a hand to play in that miracle for so indeed it was. But in that miracle were the Pilots and Crew who did what they believed was their duty, the passengers who cared more for others than for self and the bystanders who did not just sit back and let the people freeze and drown.  Each one of us has a special role to play in the salvation of the world. Like a symphony led by a master conductor we are called to make our notes in support of the greater theme. Our theme is not to sound good or be popular but to announce with our very lives that Jesus is the savior of us All. This was a lesson learned by Paul when he met the Lord Face to Face on the road to Damascus. It was there that he received his call to be a voice to the Gentiles. He was God’s chosen instrument to reach the whole of humanity with that Good News. Let us then join in the great work of salvation continuing the mission of Christ and his Apostles winning over this world and brining it out of Death and into Life. Then we will have done what have been made to do in our Baptism, Announce the Gospel to Every Creature!
