How to get in?

“Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you. When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. Yet even when you saw that, you did not later change your minds and believe him.”

So if you have lived a good life do not fail in seeking out God. Sometimes we can get settled in what we do and how we do it. We become prejudiced that our way is the only way. Yet God works in many and mysterious ways. He is generous to a fault as we heard last week. He calls all people even those who ostensibly should be excluded from God’s love. We all should be in that position, not just the public sinners! But Jesus came and our opportunity for Grace forever changed. No longer are we kept frozen in sin but with God’s help like the sinners of the Gospel we can say yes to God and no to sin. But do not allow yourself to become settled in what you know is right. We are incredible self deceivers, with the ability to say “’Yes, God,’ but then not go.” As the prophet Ezekiel makes very clear any purposeful misstep (read that as Deliberate Intentional Sin) will be a cause for our separation from God’s life. Every person has the choice then to follow God into life or follow their will away from life. We must be people who have in our lives active the very Heart and Life of Christ. Then all our actions will be imbued with his spirit and will. Do not then be afraid of what is before us and what might challenge us for the Lord himself will give us everything and everyone we need to complete our journey through this world and into the life of Heaven!
