Divine entry into our lives, if we are open to it.

Make sure you check out the Sunday Readings before you head to mass, you can do so at SQPN’s Verbum Domini (www.sqpn.com) or at the USCCB NAB Site (www.usccb.org/nab). Below is a snippet of the Gospel that you can focus on as you read them!
“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.”
God has fully given freely of his life to us throughout all of history. We human beings though often fail to recognize this gift of love. Indeed we are clueless and lose all that God has generously shared with us. In this little vignette we see the fullness of God’s Wisdom coming forth through Peter. He does not brush aside the wisdom but when called to share it he did. How often in our lives can we say that we did the same? Or do we rather play it safe trying to hold onto our position and dignity before the world. Peter in a moment of insight opened himself completely to the presence of God before him. When we in our lives allow the same moments of insight God will give us the same clarity as he did Peter. Indeed it was here the Simon received that name for he had rooted himself not on sand but on the very Rock of Faith. His statement of faith would become the foundation for our understanding of the salvation offered by Jesus. Let us not run away from this clarity but relish in it so that we can root ourselves in the same life as did Peter. For if we stay where we feel comfortable we will find ourselves without, but with God’s help we can find everlasting wisdom and life!
